Technical requirements for print layouts43

With the view of excellent quality of products and smooth operations, we hereby give our technical requirements.

1. Data transfer:
– Maximum data size 5 MB. per e-mail
– For files exceeding 5 MB, please, use Via Aquaria ftp server and create a new folder (please, contact your Via Aquaria manager for ftp address). Please, inform your Via Aquaria manager about the file upload and indicate file name and full path (address) on the order.
– When transferring or confirming layouts, please, simultaneously send *.jpg or*.pdf vie file to Via Aquaria manager.

2. Software:

• Illustrator CS3(*.ai)
• InDesigne CS3 (*.indd)
• Photoshope CS3 (*.psd)
• CorelDraw 15 (*.cdr)

Operating systems: Mac OS; MS Windows.

3. Artwork preparation requirements:
Files accepted: *.ai (300 dpi); *.pdf (300 dpi); *.eps (300 dpi); *.cdr (300 dpi).
Key requirements:
• All texts must be CONVERTED TO CURVES (vectorized).
• Line thickness in artwork cannot be thinner than 0,02 mm and outline has to be filled.
• Objects that serve the same purpose, like layout lines; cutting/folding lines (crops); design elements (logos, texts, pictures, etc.), have to be grouped into separate groups or placed into separate layers. If Via Aquaria layouts for artwork preparations are used, layout lines and cutting/folding lines (crops) cannot be removed.
• When saving files for printing, please, check and adjust program settings, so there is no unnecessary information on the artwork left, like “All Printer’s Marks” (Trim Marks; Registration Marks; Color Bars; Page information; Bleeds, etc.).
NOTE: Please, check all the requirements before sending artwork for production.

Colors and resolution:
• Whole artwork and raster graphics in it (photos or drawings) must have a resolution of at least 300 dpi in trimmed size. Please, do not “artificially raise” printing resolution – it will not improve printing quality.
• Artwork for printing has to be prepared in CMYK or Grayscale (NO RGB!).
• Artwork objects can be prepared in CMYK, PANTONE, or Grayscale (NO RGB!). If artwork is prepared in CMYK (4+0), do not leave PANTONE colors; if artwork has both CMYK and PANTONE (5+0), indicate it as CMYK + PANTONE.
• Black color background is recommended to be prepared as:
for CMYK – C-50; M-50; Y-50; K-100;
for PANTONE – Process Black or Black – 100 %.
• Black color text has to be prepared as:
for CMYK – C-0; M-0; Y-0; K-100;
for PANTONE – Process Black or Black – 100 %.
• Please, inform your Via Aquaria manager, if “Overprint” command is used on the artwork, and indicate its place. Otherwise it will be removed before printing.
Artwork preparation for printing with UV varnish:
• Printing and UV layouts have to be prepared in separate files. Sheet size has to remain the same.
• If artwork contains spot varnish on certain picture, please, keep the same sheet size and picture position on UV layout file.
• UV varnish has to be indicated in black color – C-90; M-90; Y-90; K-100;
Artwork preparation for printing with embossing:
• Printing and embossing layouts have to be prepared in separate files. Sheet size has to remain the same.
• If artwork contains embossing on certain picture, please, keep the same sheet size and picture position on embossing layout file.
• Embossing has to be indicated in black color – C-0; M-0; Y-0; K-100.
• Artwork for positive or negative embossing is prepared in the same way. Please, indicate what kind of embossing is needed and inform your Via Aquaria manager.

EXCEPTIONS:
• Embossing CANNOT BE DONE on certain picture, if cardboard is laminated with printed paper.
• If embossing is done on cardboard laminated with printed paper, embossing area cannot be smaller than 3 mm. (This exempt is not valid for all other cases, when embossing is done on regular paper of up to 350 gsm).
Artwork preparation for printing with hot foiling:
• Printing and hot foiling layouts have to be prepared in separate files. Sheet size has to remain the same.
• Hot foiling has to be indicated in black color – C-0; M-0; Y-0; K-100.

4. Artwork preparation for paper bags:
• Artworks for paper bags have to be prepared according to the requirements listed above (see Chapter 3).
• Paper bag artworks have to be prepared using layouts, supplied by Via Aquaria (please, contact your manager).
• Please, do not change sheet size, when using Via Aquaria layouts.
• In all cases, objects that serve the same purpose, like layout lines; cutting/folding lines (crops); design elements (logos, texts, pictures, etc.), have to be grouped into separate groups or placed into separate layers.
• When saving files for printing (e.g. *.pdf format), please, adjust program settings, so there is no unnecessary information on the artwork left, like “All Printer’s Marks” (Trim Marks; Registration Marks; Color Bars; Page information; Bleeds, etc.)

5. Artwork preparation for binders:
• Artworks for binders have to be prepared according to the requirements listed above (see Chapter 3).
• Binder artworks have to be prepared using layouts, supplied by Via Aquaria (please, contact your manager).
• Artworks for binders have to be prepared with compulsory 15 mm margins from every side. Margins are indicated in Via Aquaria layouts.
• Objects that serve the same purpose, like layout lines; design elements (logos, texts, pictures, etc.), have to be grouped into separate groups or placed into separate layers.
NOTE: All products made from cardboard laminated with printed paper artwork can contain 2-3 mm variations in picture position.

6. Artwork preparation for paper folders:
• Artworks for paper folders have to be prepared according to the requirements listed above (see Chapter 3).
• Paper folder artworks have to be prepared using layouts, supplied by Via Aquaria (please, contact your manager).
• Artworks for paper folders have to be prepared with compulsory 5 mm margins from every side. They are indicated in outermost layout points. Do not trim margins to layout shape.
• Objects that serve the same purpose, like layout lines; design elements (logos, texts, pictures, etc.), have to be grouped into separate groups or placed into separate layers.

7. Artwork preparation for box production:
• Step by step procedure for picking right box construction:
1. Please, define size, shape, and weight of item that will go in the box. If you have a non-standard shape item that needs inner partitions, pockets, inserts, etc., it is highly recommended to send an item sample to your Via Aquaria manager.
2. Many construction types, shapes, and sizes can be found on Via Aquaria  website.
We recommend to choose the construction of your box from the available Via Aquaria shapes.
3. After final construction and size is confirmed, which must measure up to the dimensional markup sequence – L x B x H – used on Via Aquaria website, your Via Aquaria manager will provide you with the layout for artwork preparation.
• Artworks for boxes have to be prepared according to the requirements listed above (see Chapter 3).
• Artworks for boxes have to be prepared with compulsory 10 mm margins from every side. They are indicated in outermost layout points. Do not trim margins to layout shape.
• Objects that serve the same purpose, like layout lines; design elements (logos, texts, pictures, etc.), have to be grouped into separate groups or placed into separate layers.
NOTE: All products made from cardboard laminated with printed paper artwork can contain 2-3 mm variations in picture position.
